Job Description

Microsoft is seeking a Senior Hardware Serviceability Engineer to lead Design for Serviceability (DFS) and Design for Integration (DFI) strategies within the Silicon, Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) team. This role involves mentoring engineers, driving serviceability design, and collaborating across teams to enhance cloud infrastructure reliability and serviceability.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the isolation of DFS and DFI requirements through partner-assessment checklists.
  • Lead serviceability design with hardware teardowns and produce tool lists.
  • Mentor and influence engineers to define clear FRU boundaries and labeling.
  • Author and update service collateral while validating DFS and DFI.
  • Own supplier scorecard KPI with impacted SIs/ODMs.
  • Maintain change control hygiene and ensure serviceability artifacts are versioned.
  • Drive post-mortems and lessons-learned for future NPI programs.
