Requirements

  • Deep expertise in Linux systems administration and engineering across multiple distributions.
  • Proven experience in FleetDM (or similar MDM/endpoint management tools) at scale.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise security practices (CIS, encryption, identity, PKI, vulnerability management).
  • Ability to architect and deliver scalable platforms in developer-heavy environments.
  • Leadership skills to operate at RIV-6 level: strategic planning, cross-team collaboration, and proactive initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain supported Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Fedora, Rocky) and approved hardware models.
  • Lead lifecycle management including OS patching, end-of-life planning, and standard image baselining.
  • Establish and enforce CIS hardening standards, encryption, authentication, and auditing.
  • Partner with Security to ensure Rivian IP protection through tooling integration and policy compliance.
  • Expand FleetDM coverage across all Rivian and JV endpoints.
  • Integrate endpoint security tools (Microsoft Defender, VPN, certificates/PKI) into the Linux ecosystem.
  • Deliver dashboards and reporting for visibility, compliance, and fleet health.
  • Develop and maintain a forward-looking Linux roadmap aligned with Rivian’s enterprise priorities and JV expansion.
  • Architect scalable solutions for onboarding, provisioning, package management, observability, and automation.
  • Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert, influencing cross-functional design decisions and developer enablement.
