Job Description

The Senior Staff Engineer will help drive the vision and platform strategy for Uber's Autonomous Mobility & Delivery team, focusing on designing and scaling the autonomous platform to ensure a seamless integration of AVs into Uber's marketplace.

Requirements

PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field AND 4-years full-time Software Engineering work experience OR 7-years full-time Software Engineering work experience
4-years total technical software engineering experience in programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)
Experience in developing large-scale, distributed systems
Strong understanding of technical architecture, system design, and problem-solving skills
Proven track record of leading and scaling high-impact product platform initiatives
Strong technical expertise in platform architecture, microservices, and building resilient, scalable systems
Ability to work with cross-functional partners to drive business outcomes

Responsibilities

Define and drive the technical direction for the AM&D platform
Own and scale critical systems across the API Gateway, Simulation Platform, and Data Pipelines & Reporting
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to a high-performing team of engineers
Design, develop, and deploy platform components that are resilient and easily integrated across multiple Uber surfaces
Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-company teams to align the autonomous platform with Uber's broader strategies
