Job Description

Join a team at Google focused on developing custom silicon solutions for direct-to-consumer products. You will work on designing and validating embedded systems hardware that captures sensor data for Google Maps, collaborating with various teams to define requirements and ensure performance metrics are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working in a hardware technical environment.
  • Experience with design, testing and validation of electronics or embedded systems.
  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Knowledge of FPGA development and experience working with FPGA designers (preferred).
  • Knowledge of camera image sensors, Lidar sensors, or global navigation satellite systems (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, bring-up and validation of embedded systems hardware used to capture sensor data for Google Maps.
  • Create, review and approve hardware designs (e.g., block diagrams, schematics, layouts, algorithms, protocols, link budgets).
  • Evaluate hardware design feasibility based on product requirements.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal software and firmware teams, as well as external partners.
  • Apply standard procedures to improve constrained hardware components to meet performance, power, and cost-effectiveness requirements.
  • Drive efforts for the documentation of the hardware design, its implementation, or test/validation results throughout the product life cycle.
