Job Description

Google is seeking software engineers to develop next-generation technologies that enhance user interaction with information. The role involves working on large-scale distributed systems, contributing to cloud computing, and optimizing performance for products like BigQuery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in programming languages (e.g., C++ or Java), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience in designing, developing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience with multithreaded programming.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field (preferred).
  • Experience with system-level programming (preferred).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (preferred).
  • Ability to engage with customers to understand and respond to their technical needs and demands (preferred).
  • Ability to work within a technical stack, and write code within the environment where changes carry significant customer risk (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select among available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on service operations and quality.
