Job Description

Meta is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Capacity Engineering team, focusing on performance and capacity optimization across all Meta products and infrastructure. The role involves managing a team of engineers to develop global capacity plans, balancing service and financial constraints while driving strategic company-level impact.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, or other technical field, or relevant practical experience
  • 8+ years of engineering work experience, including 3+ years of hands-on engineering people-management
  • Demonstrated experience with recruiting, developing, and leading technical teams
  • Experience and demonstrated success with distributed systems and infrastructure planning at scale
  • Experience managing ambiguity to deliver results
  • Demonstrated success in managing challenging relationships and competing priorities with executive level partners or customers

Responsibilities

  • Capacity planning for all of Meta: all software products/services and plans for how to scale server and data center resources most efficiently
  • Build and maintain high performing team: Hire the best talent and own career development
  • Assess team performance on an ongoing basis: address under-performance, recognize and promote performance
  • Maximize the conditions for the team's success: ensure clarity in team vision, priorities, roadmap and key business context
  • Effectively navigate complex tradeoffs and relationships to balance solving for team, cross-functional partner/stakeholders, and Meta company priorities
  • Identify capacity-related issues proactively and work across technical and business teams to define and implement solutions
  • Partner with leadership to influence and drive organization design and broader prioritization
  • Measure the impact of your team and set clear expectations and goals
  • Drive technical discussions: influence technical design and process in partnership with team
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships across technical and business teams
