Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Simulation Engineer to design material flow systems for electric vehicle manufacturing. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize factory designs and ensure efficient production processes through discrete event simulation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering, focusing on discrete event simulation
  • Familiarity with creating new features and modules within discrete event simulation platforms using FlexScript, Simtalk, C++, and/or Python
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication at all organizational levels
  • A positive attitude paired with strong work ethics aligned to Rivian’s mission

Responsibilities

  • Construct comprehensive, end-to-end material flow simulation models
  • Engineer and deploy custom modules, objects, and tailored FlexScript, Simtalk solutions
  • Execute capacity planning analyses for resource and equipment allocation
  • Critically evaluate assumptions underlying current manufacturing designs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in layout design and production control
  • Develop and sustain digital twin models for factory operations
  • Recommend improvements in dock capacity, route planning, and storage capacity
  • Co-develop standards for discrete event simulation models
