Job Description

Apple is seeking a passionate product design engineer to contribute to the development of innovative mobile devices. The role involves strong mechanical design skills, project leadership in a multi-functional environment, and effective communication with vendors and internal teams. Responsibilities include building prototypes, conducting failure analysis, and working on-site at contract manufacturers in India.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline
  • 3+ years of mechanical design experience using a variety of fabrication processes
  • 3+ years of consumer electronics design experience with large multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong proficiency in Siemens NX
  • Experience with metrology and interpreting FAI data
  • Experience working with electrical engineers on custom PCBs/FPCs
  • Understanding of tight-tolerance fabrication and assembly techniques
  • Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)

Responsibilities

  • Design tight tolerance components for prototype systems
  • Develop test infrastructure and characterize components and assembly processes
  • Build prototypes for design validation
  • Drive failure analysis
  • Work on-site at contract manufacturers to implement and integrate iPhones
