Job Description

The Purview Data Security team at Microsoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to innovate and enhance data protection for AI applications. The role involves building high-performance systems, engaging in proactive protection strategies, and fostering an inclusive development environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • 2+ years of experience designing, developing, or maintaining secure software systems, with applied knowledge of authentication, data protection, access control, and secure coding practices
  • 2+ years of experience designing, building, and operating scalable, highly available cloud services or distributed systems on platforms such as Azure, AWS, GCP, or comparable cloud environments
  • 2+ years of experience applying distributed systems concepts such as concurrency, conflict resolution, and consensus algorithms
  • 2+ years of experience building systems with emphasis on reliability, durability, and operational efficiency
  • 2+ years of experience programming in modern back-end languages such as C#, Java, Go, or Python

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to processes for the architecture of a product/solution feature and helps to create proposals for architecture
  • Helps identify other teams and technologies that will be leveraged and how they will interact
  • Support efforts to apply debugging tools and examines logs, telemetry, and other methods to verify assumptions proactively
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure coding standards are followed
  • Conduct and create experiments to determine the effectiveness of changes for prototyping and testing features
  • Maintains operation of live service as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis
  • Alert stakeholders of their statuses and garner approval to restore systems/products/services
  • Respond within Service Level Agreement timeframes
  • Considers partners across teams and their end goals for products to drive and achieve user experiences
