Job Description

The Staff Engineer will lead Tesla's Factory-Field Quality team, focusing on mentorship, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance field quality metrics. The role requires a strong problem-solving mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
5-8 years Quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong project management experience across multiple teams using methodologies and software
Ability to analyze data in ambiguous scenarios with an eagerness to learn new tools and methodologies
Experience mentoring, training, or leading a small team of engineers and technicians
Specific training and demonstrated success in applying quality problem solving methods
Experience with a broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (5% to 10%)
Must be detail oriented and effectively handle multiple priorities

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor engineers and technicians on how to clean field data, analyze trends, and clearly present results
Establish and maintain quality performance metrics
Analyze high volume of data and synthesize down to critical trends/themes
Lead/facilitate review and disposition of discrepant materials
Cultivate critical relationships with field teams to support problem definition and root cause analysis
Influence cross-functional problem-solving teams to enact process and product improvements
Develop and implement quality standards as part of the Tesla Quality System
Promote and maintain a culture of continuous improvement
Maintain a clean and organized work area
