Job Description

Tesla is seeking a highly-motivated Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in roll to roll web handling applications. The role involves designing, developing, and commissioning high-speed automated equipment while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing processes and product designs.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing Engineering or another engineering discipline
3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
Experience in equipment using roll to roll web handling and vision systems
Strong hands-on experience with pilot and high-volume manufacturing
Demonstrated experience solving complex automation and software system issues
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
Structured thinking and problem solving abilities
3D CAD design experience in production equipment
Availability for travel domestic/international as required
Knowledge and understanding of Battery Cell technology a plus

Responsibilities

Drive design, development, commissioning, and ramp of manufacturing equipment
Work collaboratively as the equipment expert to ensure production lines run safely and efficiently
Become owner / subject matter expert to drive equipment-related process improvement
Drive manufacturing ramp by characterizing baseline and improving performance of equipment
Troubleshoot and recover processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software
Build training material, maintenance routines, and related documentation
Lead safety and ergonomic improvements to production equipment
Identify equipment critical spare parts and ensure sufficient coverage
Provide direction and mentorship to third party machine/automation suppliers
Develop and manage FMEA / risk assessments
