Job Description

Tesla is seeking a highly-motivated Manufacturing Engineer with expertise in roll to roll web handling applications. The role involves designing, developing, and commissioning high-speed automated equipment while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing processes and product designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Manufacturing Engineering or another engineering discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a high volume manufacturing environment
  • Experience in equipment using roll to roll web handling and vision systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with pilot and high-volume manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience solving complex automation and software system issues
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Structured thinking and problem solving abilities
  • 3D CAD design experience in production equipment
  • Availability for travel domestic/international as required
  • Knowledge and understanding of Battery Cell technology a plus

Responsibilities

  • Drive design, development, commissioning, and ramp of manufacturing equipment
  • Work collaboratively as the equipment expert to ensure production lines run safely and efficiently
  • Become owner / subject matter expert to drive equipment-related process improvement
  • Drive manufacturing ramp by characterizing baseline and improving performance of equipment
  • Troubleshoot and recover processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software
  • Build training material, maintenance routines, and related documentation
  • Lead safety and ergonomic improvements to production equipment
  • Identify equipment critical spare parts and ensure sufficient coverage
  • Provide direction and mentorship to third party machine/automation suppliers
  • Develop and manage FMEA / risk assessments
