Job Description

Arcadis is seeking a Structural Engineer to join their Climate Adaptation and Water Management Team in Virginia Beach or Richmond, Virginia. The role involves delivering engineering and consulting services for projects focused on flood risk reduction, waterfront infrastructure resilience, and dam safety.

Requirements

  • 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work which has a well-defined scope.
  • Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions and regulatory agency specifications.
  • Works toward development of calculations, plans, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
  • Works directly with a variety of engineering disciplines, office/project staff, client and sub-contractors throughout the project life cycle.
  • Will exercise their own judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Will function as Design Lead, Task Manager or Project Engineer on projects to manage related budgets and schedules.
  • Some travel may be required for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities.
  • Mentor entry-level and junior structural engineering staff.
