Job Description

This role involves working as a specialist practitioner in teams to solve complex issues for clients in the capital projects industry. You will utilize analytical tools, develop proprietary models, and present findings to client management while contributing to McKinsey's industry knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or construction science
  • 2+ years of experience on major capital projects for either an owner or contractor, ideally in a project management or project controls role
  • Background in consulting, strategy and/or research is a plus
  • Modeling capability using Excel and experience managing large datasets with databases
  • Distinctive analytical and quantitative skills
  • Proven record of leadership in a work setting and/or through extracurricular activities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience with Primavera P6 tool or Generative Scheduling is a bonus
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively - both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to travel 50% or more

Responsibilities

  • Work in teams to solve pressing and complex issues for clients using analytical tools
  • Support the development of new proprietary tools, benchmarking databases, and market perspectives
  • Gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop communication and recommendations
  • Present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members
  • Build and scale analytical solutions for engagement across portfolio optimization, project development, and value improvement
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budget forecasts for large-scale capital projects using advanced software tools
  • Contribute to McKinsey’s industry knowledge by staying up to date with the latest in the capital projects industry
  • Develop proprietary models and analyses, synthesizing findings into McKinsey formatted products
