Job Description

Join Tesla's Storage Infrastructure team as a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, focusing on building and operating large-scale on-premises object storage systems that utilize the AWS S3 API. This role involves deep systems engineering, database expertise, and software development in Rust to manage Tesla's massive datasets effectively.

Requirements

Understanding of modern object storage APIs (specifically AWS S3 API)
Strong knowledge of databases (Postgres is a plus)
Strong software development experience, and experience working on large-scale projects
Comfortable implementing database migrations with zero downtime
Experience implementing sharding and partitioning

Responsibilities

Be a member of Tesla’s storage team responsible for providing archive storage and bucket moving capabilities
Help manage large-scale data (exabytes) on multiple types of storage devices
Develop server software using Rust
Deploy code that will be used by thousands of servers with high availability requirements
Help implement database migrations with zero downtime
Work on improving performance of database queries
Debug and define new database schemas
