Job Description

The role involves serving as a key data science partner to Google's Merchant Shopping Organization, utilizing analytics to drive data-informed decisions and improve the Shopping Graph. Candidates will mentor junior data scientists, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and communicate complex findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) or 8 years of experience with a Master's degree.
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field (preferred).
  • 12 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Technical Lead, mentoring junior data scientists in defining high-value problem statements and ensuring project outcomes deliver measurable business impact.
  • Act as a consultant and thought partner to Engineering and Product Management leads, providing data-driven perspectives on product direction and opportunities.
  • Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify the most significant opportunities for improving the Shopping Graph.
  • Design and implement analysis (evals, log analysis etc.) to measure the impact of Shopping Graph data on key shopping experiences.
  • Communicate complex findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership.
