Job Description

Rivian is seeking a CAE Engineer to lead durability analysis for Body Structure and Chassis components of their electric vehicles. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure components meet durability requirements while utilizing advanced CAE tools for analysis and optimization.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering with 12+ years of progressively responsible Automotive CAE experience or MS in Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in automotive durability simulations with ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, Optistruct/NASTRAN, and nCode
  • Ability to communicate clearly to a broad audience through verbal and written methods
  • Strong understanding of various weld representation and analysis techniques
  • Demonstrated passion for continuous improvement and problem-solving

Responsibilities

  • Lead subsystem level Durability CAE analysis of Body Structures & Chassis subsystems
  • Develop and execute analysis plans for various Body Structure and Chassis subsystems
  • Lead multiple concurrent CAE-intensive projects with cross-functional teams
  • Capture welds, connections, and boundary conditions according to simulation standards
  • Predict and improve local and global stiffness of body structure systems
  • Extract relevant duty cycle and abuse loads from Vehicle Dynamics Loads
  • Utilize advanced fatigue prediction techniques for seam weld fatigue calculations
  • Explain durability failure modes and devise countermeasures
  • Develop new analytical methods and virtual validation procedures
  • Conduct data-driven root cause analysis of field failures
