Job Description

Cummins is seeking a Customer Engineering Product Specialist in Auburn Hills, MI, to enhance OEM program success and improve machine performance through effective product selection and integration. The role involves acting as a technical liaison, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving product applications by translating customer needs into actionable engineering solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree may be required for select roles.
  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate with SMEs and VPI teams to align on product data and installation requirements.
  • Optimize machine performance and quality through product selection and design choices.
  • Apply and refine core processes and tools for consistent, data-driven outcomes.
  • Manage specifications, communicate changes, and resolve complex installation issues.
  • Guide OEM product selection and equipment design using market expertise.
  • Translate customer requests into engineering solutions.
  • Validate prototype performance against Cummins requirements.
  • Lead smaller-impact projects and coach junior engineers.
