Job Description

The manufacturing equipment engineer at Tesla is responsible for the performance of equipment used in robotic product production, managing tooling designs and upgrades for OEE performance improvements. This role involves developing maintenance procedures, training technicians, and collaborating with various teams to ensure safe and efficient manufacturability of products.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of hands-on mechanical and electrical experience in a production environment
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
  • Understanding of automation systems, mechanical engineering, robotics, PLCs, data collection systems
  • Experience with drilling, tapping, and utilizing basic shop tools
  • Working knowledge of data analysis, statistics, SPC
  • Able to maintain organization and focus in a highly dynamic environment
  • Excellent communicator, both in presentations and written reports

Responsibilities

  • Subject matter expert of equipment used in their area, supporting improvements and escalations related to yield, quality, downtime, and safety
  • Manage equipment performance and present OEE data
  • Manage equipment and product roadmaps to meet design and production ramp plans
  • Design new equipment/machine stations as well as manage tooling upgrades for existing production stations
  • Work with equipment vendors to establish Tesla standards and requirements for manufacturing technologies
