Job Description

Tesla is looking for a motivated Software Engineer to join the Wireless Systems team, focusing on the development of telematics solutions for various vehicle platforms. The role involves embedded software design and development across cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth technologies, requiring collaboration with cross-functional teams and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional programming skills in C++, Linux OS, and Python/Shell scripting
  • Good understanding of Embedded Systems, OS concepts, computer architecture, data structures and algorithms
  • Hands-on experience in maintaining the Linux kernel and embedded services
  • Experience in porting and patching open-source packages within the Yocto Project environment
  • Good understanding of networking concepts (Ethernet, TCP/IP, IP routing design, VLANs, firewalls, and both IPv4 and IPv6 protocols)
  • Familiarity with wireless technologies (Cellular/WiFi/Bluetooth/BLE) is a plus
  • Familiarity with embedded interfaces (UART, I2C, I2S, SPI, CAN, PCIe, etc.) is a plus
  • Familiar with version control and collaborative development using Git and GitHub

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to Tesla’s Cellular wireless connectivity stack (LTE/5G)
  • Prototype and evaluate next-generation wireless platforms for future Tesla products
  • Develop and enhance connectivity features across various projects (Vehicles, Bots, Robotaxis)
  • Develop telemetry and analytics platform enabling data collection, analysis and visualization of data reported from Tesla fleet
  • Drive continuous improvements and promote best practices within the team and broader organization
  • Support test automation frameworks and collaborate with QA, manufacturing, and other software teams
  • Investigate and root-cause issues reported by QA teams and customer feedback
