Job Description

Netflix is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the technical vision for machine learning-oriented data products. The role involves architecting distributed data systems, partnering with platform teams, and ensuring data quality and reliability to support machine learning at scale.

Requirements

Strong intuition about Data for ML, including feature computation and data quality impact on model performance.
Proficient in at least one major language on the JVM stack (e.g., Java, Scala) and SQL.
Hands-on experience with distributed systems and large-scale, low-latency pipelines using technologies like Spark, Flink, or Kafka.
Ability to design and build high-quality data products and interfaces.
Excellent cross-functional communication skills.
Strong ownership mindset regarding reliability and operational excellence.
Comfortable with ambiguity and fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

Lead the technical vision for ML-oriented data products.
Drive the strategy for data production, management, and delivery for ML processes.
Architect and build distributed data systems at scale.
Partner with ML Platform teams to ensure data freshness and quality.
Translate ML requirements into data architecture decisions.
Ensure ML-critical data systems meet high SLAs through observability and debugging.
Provide technical mentorship and influence across teams.
