Job Description

Join Google's Global Manufacturing Operations team as a packaging engineer, where you'll develop innovative packaging solutions for hardware products. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and compliance while managing the supply chain for packaging materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience in packaging product development.
  • Experience in supply chain in the following commodities: packaging and printed materials, kitting operations and package labeling.
  • Experience in Hardware Product packaging and Structural Design.
  • Experience with CAD (e.g., ArtiosCAD, Creo, SolidWorks).
  • Experience in fundamentals of sourcing packaging materials, pulp packaging, rigid packaging and working with international supply base partners.

Responsibilities

  • Drive appropriate, cost conscious, environmentally conscious, fully tested and qualified quality packaging designs based on Customer/Product Requirements.
  • Work globally with cross-functional teams in Operations, Engineering and Partner Management and act as a point of escalation for packaging issues reported by partners and customers and drive root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Design testing plans to validate packaging materials to ensure they are durable, cost-effective, and sustainable and Create drawings, specifications, samples, and written analysis of packaging for approvals.
  • Ensure all packaging materials and products meet applicable safety, regulatory, and compliance standards; manage operational escalations related to such and conduct research on new packaging technologies and best practices.
  • Assist in the supply chain management of packaging and analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
