Job Description

KLA is seeking a motivated summer intern to work on advanced mechatronics systems within the Metrology division. The role involves hands-on experience in developing custom control systems for high-precision wafer stages while collaborating with design engineers and managing projects.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Ph.D. OR Master's Level Degree with a minimum of 3.5 GPA
  • A Master's degree is preferred in electrical, robotics, control systems, mechanical engineering, data science or related field
  • Hands-on experience in the lab is preferred
  • Experience in any one of the following areas: Robust control, System identification, Signal processing, Predictive Maintenance, modeling of mechanical systems
  • Experience in the validation of hardware systems
  • Knowledge of Matlab for data analysis and control development
  • Knowledge of building GUIs in Matlab

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and work with design engineers to design advanced metrology systems
  • Work independently on data collection, analysis, and managing projects
  • Perform hands-on work with hardware and gather the necessary data in the lab or the cleanroom
  • Present the technical analysis in both verbal and written format and presentations to the team
  • Work in specified timelines and milestones
  • Willingness to take on responsibility and ability to quickly ramp from the existing documentation and on-job training
  • Identify any gaps and propose solutions in the implementation
  • Ability to modify tuning algorithms, design and update machine learning algorithms
  • Use first principles in the design work when needed
