Job Description

Rivian is seeking a hands-on Staff AI Engineer to design and scale Enterprise Applied AI solutions that drive impact across internal teams. The role involves setting technical direction, owning complex domains, and collaborating with various departments to align AI solutions with measurable business outcomes.

Requirements

  • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years (Staff) or 12+ years (Senior Staff) in software engineering.
  • Deep technical knowledge in AI/ML with hands-on experience in language models and evaluation.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into robust AI products.
  • Experience defining and evolving architectures and standards for AI systems.
  • Strong familiarity with security, privacy, compliance, and auditability for enterprise AI systems.
  • Excellence in communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and development of AI applications and platforms.
  • Define long-term architecture and engineering standards for Applied AI systems.
  • Partner with business sponsors to translate opportunities into roadmaps and products.
  • Collaborate with engineering groups to align AI investments and avoid duplication.
  • Drive continuous improvement in AI methodologies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to embed governance and security practices.
  • Champion AI literacy and enablement across the organization.
  • Mentor engineers and lead design reviews.
  • Establish evaluation and monitoring practices for AI systems.
  • Optimize latency, throughput, and cost at scale.
