Uber is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for its Consumer Pricing and Incentives team, which plays a crucial role in shaping demand and optimizing revenue for Uber's delivery services. The role involves defining the technical roadmap for systems that make millions of pricing decisions daily, requiring a strong background in software engineering and system design.
Requirements
- PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field AND 5+-years full-time Software Engineering work experience OR 8+-years full-time Software Engineering work experience
- Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)
- Demonstrated examples of project leadership roles, delivering production-level features from inception, and promoting a high-quality culture amongst the team
- Deep system design skills for building highly-scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant services
- Experience with operational aspects of monitoring, alerting, and structuring code for production-level debugging and optimization
Responsibilities
- Champion Engineering Quality by establishing best practices and advocating for strong engineering principles
- Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, reliable, and performant systems
- Partner with product managers, data scientists, and business leaders to translate business goals into a clear technical vision
- Act as a force multiplier for the team, providing technical mentorship and fostering a culture of ownership and collaboration
- Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to a diverse audience and drive alignment on technical direction
