Cummins Inc. is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer in Seattle, WA, to enhance product performance and reliability through software issue investigation and resolution. The role involves collaborating with development teams, providing technical oversight, and mentoring junior engineers while focusing on embedded C/C++ software for automotive ECUs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field required
- 5+ years of embedded software experience in automotive or safety-critical systems
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ (Python a plus)
- Familiarity with Git, static analysis, and HIL/SIL environments
- Experience with AUTOSAR Classic and ECU software integration preferred
- Knowledge of CAN, J1939, UDS, and XCP preferred
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and integrate embedded C/C++ software for automotive ECUs
- Integrate controls software components with AUTOSAR BSW and RTE layers
- Lead root-cause investigations of complex software issues
- Influence software requirements, architecture, design, and test strategies
- Participate in unit, integration, SIL, and HIL testing
- Support diagnostics, fault handling, calibration, and flashing workflows
- Provide technical oversight, code reviews, and mentorship to junior engineers
- Own complex software components or subsystems and lead smaller technical initiatives
