The Principal Data Scientist for Discover will lead the data science team for Google's global feed products, focusing on personalization and ranking strategies. This role involves driving product excellence through data insights and making autonomous decisions that impact billions of users globally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in data science or other quantitative fields such as: statistics, machine learning, software engineering, or ML engineering.
- Experience in using data insights to drive product excellence.
- Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent (preferred).
- Experience building feed products and leading innovation in recommendation systems and personalization (preferred).
- Strong communicator and creative with data presentations to executive and business audiences (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across ranking, product experience, and content ecosystem teams.
- Ensure a strong metrics foundation and provide technical oversight for ranking and personalization strategies.
- Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytics techniques, including predictive modeling and AI.
- Establish KPIs, metrics, and performance dashboards to monitor engagement.
- Ensure quality and accuracy across the Data Science organization and scale a specialized team of 19 data scientists.
