Tesla is seeking a Wastewater Engineer to join the Process Utilities Design team, focusing on innovative designs for wastewater and utility systems integrated with manufacturing plants. The role involves applying engineering fundamentals to solve technical problems and create detailed designs for various process water systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in wastewater and specialty water system design, process improvement or operations
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure within 3 months is preferred
- Subject matter expertise in applicable codes such as OSHA, EPA Clean Water Act, ASME piping codes, AWWA, and relevant building codes
- Ability to lead or participate in reactive chemical process hazard evaluations and HAZOP reviews
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revisto, Bluebeam, Pipe-Flo, and relief valve sizing software
- Experience with permitting of wastewater systems
Responsibilities
- Apply engineering fundamentals and tools to solve technical problems and create detailed designs for process water systems
- Lead scope development and produce basis of design documentation supporting CAPEX estimation and vendor selection
- Lead completion of construction drawings for permit and construction execution
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFD), process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and 3D layouts
- Generate process engineering calculations and documentation, including mass and energy balances
- Produce specifications for equipment, piping, and valve selection and sizing
- Work directly with piping modelers to develop fabrication detail drawing packages for construction
