Goldman Sachs is seeking a Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence expert to develop agentic AI solutions for managing large-scale production environments. The role involves building AI systems, integrating them with runtime ecosystems, and collaborating with production teams to enhance operational efficiency and reduce risks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters/PhD preferred) in a computational field (Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or related quantitative discipline)
- 7+ years of experience as an applied data scientist / machine learning engineer
- 7+ years of software development in one or more languages (Python, C/C++, Go, Java)
- 3+ years designing, architecting, testing, and launching production ML systems
- Practical experience with Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Understanding of different LLMs, both commercial and open source
- Solid grasp of applied statistics, core ML concepts, algorithms, and data structures
- Strong analytical problem-solving, ownership, and urgency
Responsibilities
- Build agentic AI systems: Design and implement tool-calling agents
- Productionize LLMs: Build evaluation framework for open-source and foundational LLMs
- Integrate with runtime ecosystems: Connect agents to observability and incident management systems
- Collaborate directly with users: Partner with production engineers and application teams
- Safety, reliability, and governance: Build validator models and policy checks
- Scale and performance: Optimize cost and latency via prompt engineering and context management
- Build a RAG pipeline: Curate domain-knowledge and establish feedback loops
- Raise the bar: Drive design reviews and mentor peers
