Job Description

Tesla is looking for an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer to manage on-site deployment and optimization of infrastructure operating systems. This role involves traveling up to 50% of the time to support global operations, including Gigafactories and Solar sites, while ensuring seamless technology integration and troubleshooting real-time issues.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related field), Finance, or equivalent experience
Proven experience in forward-deployed roles across full project lifecycles in manufacturing, renewable energy, or industrial infrastructure settings
Experience with software or automation techniques, including SQL, Python, C-Sharp, R, Tableau, and Power BI
Strong software engineering skills, including version control with Git, containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
Experience with automation scripting (e.g., Bash, Ansible) and integrating software with hardware systems
Demonstrated ability to deploy and scale analytics solutions on-site
Experience in cross-functional, forward-deployed teams involving engineering, procurement, construction, and finance
A first-principles approach to deployment
Strong field presence and communication skills

Responsibilities

Utilize existing dashboards to triage and understand project health and align with stakeholders
Deploy and engage users to adopt systems for project forecasting and health monitoring on-site
Study existing workflows, design new inputs or improvements, and scale the workflow
Apply data-driven tools and innovations in the field to optimize scheduling and productivity
Collaborate with partner organizations to ensure organizational flow amongst project deployments
Implement long-term solutions that are scalable for next-generation infrastructure
Act as the on-the-ground technical expert, translating deployment challenges into actionable solutions
