Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer to enhance manufacturing processes and improve cell product performance. The role involves collaboration with various engineering teams, managing trials, and providing data-driven insights to drive quality improvements in high-volume production environments.
Requirements
- 3+ years’ hands-on experience in High Volume Manufacturing Quality
- Degree in a technical discipline, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical or equivalent
- Experience working with lithium-ion cells or high reliability products like medical or aerospace
- Proficient in problem-solving tools such as 8D, DMAIC, 5-Why, Fishbone Diagram, etc.
- Experience with validation plans/protocols – IQ/OQ/PQ, APQP, and Control plans
- Strong knowledge of inspection techniques for geometric, mechanical, chemical characteristics
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Detail oriented, with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities
Responsibilities
- Support discrete quality improvement projects and new cell programs from concept to production handover
- Implement quality improvements during new cell launches to exceed build quality targets
- Create Control Plans for new cell or equipment launches
- Develop new in-process inspection techniques and measurement equipment validations
- Partner with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to translate design requirements into quality controls
- Support quality root cause investigations and resolutions
- Analyze manufacturing processes and product specifications to determine best practices
- Build and implement appropriate quality audit standards and procedures
