Tesla Energy is seeking a Battery Design Team Lead to oversee the design of battery systems for products like Megapack and Powerwall. The role involves leading a team in a highly collaborative environment, focusing on innovative designs and ensuring product performance, reliability, and quality.
Requirements
- 7+ years of product design experience and 3+ years of design leadership experience
- Proficiency in CAD modeling, CATIA V5/6 a plus, and PLM/engineering change systems
- Experience designing for high volume production
- Proficiency in GD&T and development of high-quality drawing packages/manufacturing instructions
- Strong engineering fundamentals in heat transfer, fluids, and structural mechanics
- Understanding of material science of components used in mechanical design
- Familiarity with design for reliability/FMEA concepts
- Familiarity with battery cell manufacturing and design is preferred
- Experience with obtaining compliance and certification to global standards
- Detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills
Responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership of the battery system designs for new and existing Tesla Energy products
- Responsible for all battery design attributes and driving team and cross-functional execution
- Lead detailed mechanical design and analysis, including thermal, structural, dynamic, electrical aspects
- Build-to-print mechanical design component design ownership
- Develop and lead execution of component and system design validation plans
- Develop and maintain technology and process/workflow roadmaps
