The Human Engineering Human Factors team at Apple conducts user research to create actionable insights that inform product design and development. The role involves collaborating across disciplines, applying Human Factors Engineering techniques, and utilizing both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
Requirements
- Ability to customize data collection tools, as well as manipulate, analyze and visualize outputs
- Experience with scripting/programming for data manipulation and research applications (e.g., R, Matlab, Python)
- Expertise in interview techniques related to product use
- Experience in cognitive engineering (work/task analysis, information processing)
- Experience with human factors engagement through various stages of the product life cycle, including foundational, formative, and evaluative stages
- Experience leveraging AI tools to support research workflows, including study design, analysis, and insights synthesis
- 5+ years industry experience in Human Factors or User Experience Research
Responsibilities
- Applying Human Factors Engineering (HFE) techniques and principles at all phases of product/technology development
- Exercising independent judgment in the development of study methodology, data collection efforts, data analysis, conclusions, and design recommendations
- Developing user study criteria and detailed methodology for widely varied projects, spanning from formative to evaluative, and qualitative to quantitative
- Conducting user-centered research and evaluation on a diverse user population, and utilizing experimental data and scientific publications
- Conducting statistical and qualitative analyses of data and providing clear and concise feedback to teams in a timely manner
- Collaborating cross-functionally with design, engineering, and product development groups
- Maintaining an active working knowledge of worldwide human factors publications and standards
