Tesla is looking for a motivated Associate Engineering Manager to lead an Equipment & Process Engineering team focused on improving manufacturing metrics such as equipment efficiency, product yield, and cost. The role involves managing a team, ensuring safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience
- 5 to 7+ years’ experience leading teams within heavily automated, high volume manufacturing facilities
- Exemplary track record of high impact contributions both as an individual Engineer and in a management capacity
- Hands on experience with lean manufacturing principles
- Demonstrated ability to meet commitments and deliver results in a fast-paced technical manufacturing environment
- Outstanding communication skills - both written and verbal
- Experience with application and teaching of structured problem-solving methodology, such as DOE, root cause analysis
- Experience with mechanical, automation, and controls engineering is highly preferred
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor and lead a team of Equipment and Process Engineers
- Ensure teams’ safety training is current and document EHS incidents
- Build & improve management systems for equipment safety and quality
- Own, report on and drive improvement of area KPI’s
- Coach Engineers and Technicians to develop and implement equipment upgrades
- Lead and assist Engineers and Technicians in resolving unplanned down events
- Make daily resource allocation decisions to balance competing priorities
- Serve as backup Engineer for all team members
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Controls teams
