Tesla's Sensing Hardware Team is seeking an architect of perception to design and define how autonomous vehicles perceive the world. The role involves system-level specifications, prototyping, and hardware development to ensure reliability and compliance in high-volume production.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of touch, force, proximity, position, temperature, humidity, and solar load sensing
- Proficient in AFE design, DSP, and interface protocols (I²C, SPI, CAN)
- Proven track record in full-cycle development of high-reliability sensor systems
- Skilled in Altium, SolidWorks, SPICE, ANSYS, Python, and MATLAB
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical discussions and deliver high-impact presentations
- Hands-on experience with DFM, DFT, process capabilities, and yield optimization
- Strategic knowledge of the sensor ecosystem and supplier roadmaps
Responsibilities
- Define system-level specifications and lead cross-functional sensor system design discussions
- Champion early prototyping and risk mitigation to validate novel sensing concepts
- Architect sensor subsystems and develop system block diagrams and performance requirements
- Own schematic, PCB, and BOM execution, ensuring signal integrity and compliance
- Ensure qualification and compliance with automotive standards
- Enable high-volume production by partnering with manufacturing and supplier teams
