Job description

This internship position at Tesla is for students pursuing a degree in fields such as Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, focusing on electronic design and circuit board development. Interns will engage in hands-on projects, collaborating with various teams to enhance their technical and professional skills.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Experience with analog and digital circuit design and PCBA
  • Experience with PCB component selection
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience in MATLAB, Python, C/C++ or equivalent tools for modeling and analysis
  • Basics of serial communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Start-to-finish hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic, layout supervision, manufacturing, bringup, and validation of circuit boards
  • Design of electrical architecture, electronic circuits, processor selection and integration, system timing and bus loading
  • Collaborate with PCB layout, firmware, mechanical, program management, and validation teams
  • Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, validation results, etc.
  • Rapidly iterate as design requirements and vehicle features mature over time
