Job description

Tesla is looking for an innovative Electrical Design Engineer to join their North America Infrastructure team in Los Angeles. The role involves developing electrical designs for various systems, ensuring compliance with codes, and collaborating across multiple teams to support Tesla's mission of sustainable energy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) – preference for CA, CO, NV, TX
  • Demonstrated experience across a broad voltage range (12V to 35kV)
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP and electrical analysis software (ETAP, SKM, or equivalent)
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC, California Building Code (CBC), and California Energy Code (Title 24)
  • Strong ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Construction administration experience including site observation visits
  • Willingness to travel to support infrastructure development in California and throughout North America

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of electrical designs for manufacturing equipment and building infrastructure
  • Prepare and oversee IFC and IFP drawing packages using Revit
  • Perform and direct critical electrical studies using ETAP, SKM, or equivalent software
  • Drive innovative electrical design solutions balancing technical excellence with cost-effectiveness
  • Establish and track team KPIs and prepare impact reports
  • Prioritize and allocate team resources across multiple projects
  • Partner with stakeholders to refine project scopes and optimize designs
  • Interface with external EPC firms, vendors, and contractors during construction phases
  • Present design concepts and progress updates during project milestone reviews
  • Collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines and perform regular field walks
