The Quality Engineer, General Assembly at Tesla will focus on enhancing the quality of electric vehicle production through continuous improvement of processes and products. The role requires strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

• Quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment (automotive preferred)
• Specific training and demonstrated success in applying quality problem solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc.
• Experience with a broad variety of measurement and inspection techniques
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (5% to 10%)
• Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience in metrology and quality control, including gauge calibration and measurement system analysis (MSA)
• Experience in CAD software including AutoCAD, CATIA and/or SolidWorks
• Experience in process capability and statistical process control (SPC) using Minitab or JMP
• Experience in applying quality problem-solving methodologies, including 8D, fishbone diagrams, 5-Why analysis, hypothesis testing, green belt, black belt, and design of experiments (DOE)
• Experience in PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plans

• Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements
• Use QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions
• Establish and maintain quality performance metrics
• Develop and implement quality standards as part of the Tesla Quality System to assure products meet expectations of our target customers
• Support the development of product specifications and tolerances, design and process FMEAs and DVAs
• Establish and maintain control plans and inspection standards to assure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production processes
• Lead/facilitate review and disposition of discrepant materials identified for control of nonconforming product
• Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow daily housekeeping and 5S standards
• Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement
