Job description

The Low Voltage Power Systems Integration Engineer at Tesla will work with cross-functional teams to design and develop low voltage power distribution and management systems for vehicles. This role involves utilizing hardware, software, and system design fundamentals to support new product design and ensure the functionality and performance of power systems throughout their lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Strong C/C++ comprehension
  • Comfortable with Electrical Engineering fundamentals
  • Strong hardware schematic and layout comprehension
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Excellent at hands-on debugging complex subsystems involving network microprocessors and software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices
  • Comfortable analyzing data to improve design and performance of a system
  • Understanding of hardware and software development processes
  • Have an exceptional capacity for managing simultaneous activities and challenges

Responsibilities

  • Architecting vehicle low voltage power systems including power distribution, power management, and network management
  • Distill vehicle product requirements into actionable software and hardware requirements, and define system hardware and software interfaces
  • Lead system behavior design of low voltage power distribution products and features
  • Bring-up and debug early software and hardware prototypes through characterizing the systems and ensuring systems perform to requirements and support validation teams in developing component and system level testing strategies to meet product requirements
  • Understand and debug hardware and software interactions during design, launch, and deployment of products or features
  • Perform field data analytics to improve behaviors and performance of the system
  • Analyze changes to assess impact to systems by summarizing impacted devices, interfaces and process in the hardware and software domain
  • Perform FMEA and HARA for low voltage power systems
  • Serve as a system leader to provide technical direction for electrical, software, manufacturing, and service teams
  • Help various cross-functional teams understand how their systems and related decisions impact low voltage power systems
