Netflix is seeking an engineer to join the Commerce Insights and Data Products Engineering team, focusing on building low-latency data products that support algorithms and machine learning models. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and analytical skills to develop reliable distributed data systems that enhance product experiences for Netflix members.
Requirements
- Proficient in at least one major language on the JVM stack (e.g., Java, Scala) and SQL.
- Possess a product mindset and curiosity to understand business needs.
- Strong data intuition and analytical skills to support high-quality data products.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Flink).
- Understanding of how ML systems consume data and design low-latency data products.
- Passionate about making data available for self-service and integration.
- Ability to craft scalable systems and solutions.
- Strong operational awareness and design multi-tenant systems for high-scale demands.
- Prioritize observability in system designs.
- Own what you build and have a passion for quality.
- Comfortable working in agile environments with vague requirements.
- Embody aspects of Netflix's culture, including collaboration and candid feedback.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with data scientists and engineers to build data products.
- Develop highly available and reliable distributed data systems.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality data for Netflix products.
- Design systems that support personalized experiences through ML.
- Monitor and maintain systems to facilitate proactive issue detection.
Benefits
- Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
