Job description
Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in welding processes to manage large-scale design and installation projects for Energy products. The role involves collaborating with various engineering teams to ensure the successful launch and stabilization of high-volume production lines while maintaining quality targets.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Experience of developing and launching welding processes
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of welding, equipment, and metallurgy
- Able to function independently and collaborate effectively in a team
- Detail oriented, organized, hands-on, and able to make strong decisions
- Extensive proficiency in creating written and pictorial documentation of manufacturing processes
- Mastery of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, experienced with AUTOCAD, CATIA 3DX and other similar software/tools
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with Joining Engineering, Process Engineering and Design Engineering to support Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Work on Spot welding, Mig welding and dispensing related equipment installation, commissioning, and ramp of high-volume production lines
- Stabilize welding process in high volume manufacturing environment after SOP
- Take direct responsibility for achieving welding quality targets and leading all activities towards this objective
- Plan and execute DoEs to characterize boundary conditions and optimize process for welding manufacturability and quality
- Arrange welding process training for production maintenance team
- Collect and prepare the final documentation package to ensure the long-term sustainability and optimization of new production lines
