Job description
Tesla is seeking a Robotic Thermal Design Engineer to develop thermal solutions for high-density AI silicon in humanoid robotics. The role involves hands-on problem-solving for complex thermal challenges, ensuring scalability and reliability in production.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Advanced proficiency in a major thermal simulation tool (e.g., Flotherm, Icepak)
- Deep understanding of heat transfer principles and advanced silicon integration technologies
- Hands-on experience with material selection for thermal applications
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot thermal failures and optimize designs
Responsibilities
- Lead the thermal-aware co-design of the AI chip and define the physical integration strategy
- Build and correlate high-fidelity thermal models to predict performance under real-world conditions
- Characterize, select, and qualify cutting-edge thermal interface materials and solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architectural trade-offs
- Partner with manufacturing teams to resolve thermal-related yield issues
