Job description

Tesla's Supplier Industrialization team is seeking an experienced engineer to manage and improve supplier manufacturing processes for critical components. The role involves collaboration with internal teams and suppliers, ensuring high-quality production and timely delivery of parts to support rapid development cycles.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of assembly plant experience with Seat components like Trim, Foam, Frames, or similar
  • Experience in Quality Systems: PPAP/APQP processes; knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Demonstrable leadership abilities; experience managing safety critical parts
  • Ability to communicate and direct supplier activities at the management level
  • Strong technical writing ability and ability to explain complex issues clearly
  • Familiarity with SPC and data analysis
  • Willingness to travel 30-40% of the time, possibly on short notice

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, audit, and improve supplier planning and execution of manufacturing techniques
  • Drive negotiation for piece price and product development to meet cost expectations
  • Facilitate communication of technical requirements between Suppliers and Tesla teams
  • Accountable for supplier audits to ensure performance and reliability expectations are met
  • Collaborate with Tesla teams to determine performance specifications and supplier metrics
  • Guide suppliers in developing robust processes for high-quality product production
  • Validate supplier corrective actions to ensure sustainability and robustness
