Job description

Meta's MSL Infra Kernels & Optimizations team is seeking PhD Research Scientist interns to explore and develop high-performance model, software, and hardware technologies aimed at building superintelligence. The role involves optimizing ML kernels, enhancing scalability and efficiency of AI systems, and collaborating with various teams to transition prototypes into production.

Requirements

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Generative AI, NLP, or a relevant technical field
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire
  • Specialized experience in areas such as Accelerators/GPU architectures, High Performance Computing, Machine Learning Compilers, and Model Compression
  • Experience developing AI-System infrastructure or AI algorithms in C/C++ or Python

Responsibilities

  • Explore, prototype and productionize highly optimized ML kernels for Meta’s AI workloads
  • Co-design and optimize parallelisms, compute efficiency, and distributed training/inference paradigms
  • Optimize inference and training communications performance at scale
  • Innovate and co-design novel model architectures for sustained scaling and hardware efficiency
  • Benchmark, analyze, model and project the performance of AI workloads
  • Explore and productionize model compression techniques to improve training and inference efficiency
  • Collaborate with AI & Systems Co-design to guide Meta’s AI HW strategy
