Tesla is seeking a highly motivated quality engineer to enhance the quality of 4680 battery cells by analyzing data from customers and the product fleet. The role involves driving improvements in product and process quality, collaborating with various engineering teams, and utilizing data-driven approaches to address technical challenges.

• Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
• 5+ years’ experience in quality, reliability, or relevant field
• Experience working with lithium-ion cells is preferred
• Ability to analyze very large data sets to draw conclusions
• Experience using quality problem solving methods such as Six Sigma
• Proven application of sampling plans and statistical analysis
• Detail oriented, with the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
• Strong data analytical skills using multiple platforms and languages

• Interface with downstream customers, pack, vehicle, and the field
• Own the containment process and be accountable for closing actions
• Investigate and collect data on opportunities for improvements to 4680 quality
• Build understanding of complex technical challenges based on data collected
• Use a data-driven approach to turn opportunities into actionable tasks
• Own KPIs that describe the performance of the fleet across in-house cell manufacturing
• Participate in warranty modeling based on CAE, lab testing, and field data
• Drive compliance to industry standards and conduct detailed risk assessments
• Interface with reliability engineering teams to implement findings from the field
