Tesla's Energy Engineering group is seeking a motivated Sr. Engineering Program Manager to oversee design engineering for Residential Energy Products, including Solar Panels. This role involves cross-functional coordination, managing product development from concept to production, and improving organizational productivity.

• Demonstrated experience in the management of engineering projects for mass produced products
• Demonstrated experience with engineering product design cycle, manufacturing line bring up, and ramp to mass production
• Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining and communicating schedules
• Demonstrated understanding of multilevel Bill of Material hierarchy, including hardware and software components
• Demonstrated understanding of product release cycle as it relates to the creation and change management of parts and BOM structures
• Ability to inspire confidence in multiple layers of management from executive to associate levels
• Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supply chain personnel
• Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or a closely related field or equivalent experience

• Work with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations, Facilities and Construction, Reliability, Test, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and other supporting functions in order to identify and scope projects for key Residential Energy Product assembly design and manufacturing
• Manage product cost down and quality improvements
• Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules for design and manufacturing engineering projects to the engineering leadership team
• Prioritize the engineering team’s work based on risk, resources and payback
• Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks
• Define processes that will improve risk and change management
