Tesla is looking for a Torque Tool Integration Engineer/Specialist to lead the integration of new torque tool vendor systems in highly automated manufacturing environments. The role involves ensuring seamless onboarding, providing expert engineering support, and optimizing torque tooling processes to enhance production efficiency and reliability.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing and implementing torque tool systems from multiple vendors in an automotive or highly automated manufacturing environment
- Strong expertise in automation technologies and system integration
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex tooling and software issues under tight production constraints
- Familiarity with torque tool calibration, maintenance, and quality control standards
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions
- Prior experience OT-IT engineering projects is highly valued
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and train manufacturing personnel
- Experience with PLCs and enterprise network operations is a plus
- Experience working torque tool vendors like Deprag, Estic and Atlas Copco is a strong plus
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, assessment, and implementation of a new torque tool vendor’s systems into existing highly automated production environments
- Partner with key vendors to ensure their tools meet Tesla’s stringent performance, reliability, and integration requirements
- Conduct thorough compatibility assessments, system testing, and performance evaluations to guarantee seamless integration with current automation infrastructure
- Accelerate the vendor’s understanding of Tesla’s needs and drive necessary customizations for optimal performance and cost efficiency
- Provide expert-level (tier 3) support to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to torque tools, integration, and software systems
- Work with cross-functional teams to quickly address production-impacting problems and minimize downtime
- Continuously monitor system performance and implement proactive improvements to enhance overall tool reliability in a highly automated setting
- Identify opportunities to optimize torque tooling processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs within a highly automated manufacturing environment
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies and vendor solutions that can further strengthen torque tooling performance and integration
- Drive standardization efforts while maintaining flexibility to support multiple vendor ecosystems
