Job description

Tesla is seeking a Maps Engineer intern to work on Autopilot technology and in-car navigation systems. The role involves implementing algorithms using data from the Tesla fleet to enhance routing and navigation features. Ideal candidates should be self-driven software engineers with a strong foundation in coding and a passion for solving complex problems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field with a graduation date between 2026 - 2027
  • Proficient in one of C++, Python, Go, Scala
  • Experience writing and shipping customer-facing code
  • High standards for code quality, maintainability, and performance
  • Willingness to learn new technologies in any area of the stack: Vehicle Control, Routing/Guidance Algorithms, Server Infrastructure, UI, Embedded Systems
  • Nice to have: Experience with Maps / GIS / Computational Geometry data, Experience in Spark, AWS, Kubernetes, Jenkins

Responsibilities

  • Rapidly prototype in-car customer experiences
  • Build full stack features for both in-car maps and Autopilot navigation
  • Extract meaningful data from fleet telemetry via automated processes
  • Implement complete features with both client and server footprint
  • Design, code, and debug software on Linux-based embedded platforms and Linux servers
  • Work with a cross-functional team of hardware engineers, application/UI software engineers, QA/Validation, and designers
