Job description
Tesla is looking for a Quality Engineer to oversee the quality of plastic components, focusing on identifying and resolving issues to enhance product reliability and durability. The role involves collaboration with various engineering teams to implement countermeasures and improve manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Degree in Software, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Hands-on failure analysis experience (consumer electronics, semiconductors, EVs, automotive preferred)
- Proficiency in software/firmware tools, logs, plastics troubleshooting, and manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of failure analysis tools, statistical software (Python, Minitab, JMP), quality standards (ASME, ISO 9001), DOE, and inspections
- Data management and interpretation using business systems
- Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Proactive, ownership-driven mindset focused on quality, safety, integrity, and adaptability
Responsibilities
- Responsible for stamping press and injection molding components quality
- Development of manufacturing requirements, quality standards and product quality plans
- Deployment of manufacturing level requirements to subsystems, assemblies & components
- Identification of critical requirements to assure proper supplier and production focus
- Leading development of FMEAs (Design & Process) for development teams
- Perform failure analysis using engineering and manufacturing expertise
- Collaborate with engineering, service, diagnostics, and quality teams
- Lead continuous improvements, preventive actions, and process optimizations
