Job description

Meta is looking for a Field Service Engineer to support robotics fleet deployments. The role involves traveling to customer sites to diagnose and repair robots, while also focusing on failure reporting and reliability improvements in partnership with engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical systems in the field
  • Proven understanding of electro-mechanical system architecture
  • Demonstrated experience to perform failure analysis and root cause analysis
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and manufacturing processes
  • Experience applying DFM / DFA principles
  • Depth of understanding to analyze service data and produce clear reporting
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, technicians, vendors, and operations
  • Willingness to travel as required and support off-hours/urgent escalations
  • Experience working in ambiguous environments with rapidly evolving hardware and processes

Responsibilities

  • Travel to field sites to install, troubleshoot, repair, and validate robotics systems
  • Diagnose electro-mechanical failures across robot subsystems
  • Execute repairs, part replacements, and upgrades to return robots to operational status
  • Own fleet upgrades and repairs across deployed platforms
  • Capture and communicate high-quality service documentation
  • Perform structured failure analysis and triage
  • Identify patterns and top drivers of downtime/returns
  • Escalate critical issues with clear severity, impact, and containment recommendations
  • Produce recurring reporting on field health
  • Partner with design, reliability, manufacturing, and suppliers to drive design corrective actions
  • Support Design for Manufacturability and serviceability feedback loops
  • Coordinate with on-site technicians, contract partners, and vendors
  • Maintain service readiness: tools, spares strategy, repair procedures, and safety/compliance requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of service workflows and documentation
