Job description
Tesla is looking for a firmware engineer to join their AI Linux Systems team, focusing on low-level embedded software for autonomous vehicles and robots. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop mission-critical firmware for various subsystems, ensuring high performance and security.
Requirements
- Engineering degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating exceptional ability
- Strong C and C++ skills required
- Experience with microcontroller firmware development (bare-metal and/or RTOS)
- Familiarity with Ethernet, PCIe, NVLink switch configuration, networking protocols, or switch SDK/APIs preferred
- Experience with Time-Sensitive Networking, including PTP and traffic shaping standards are a bonus
- Experience with hardware debugging tools (JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes) preferred
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
Responsibilities
- Design and implement firmware for embedded subsystems
- Bring up, configure, and optimize Ethernet, PCIe switch ASICs for high-bandwidth, low-latency communication between compute nodes
- Create robust system software architectures that handle inter-process communication and data transport across compute nodes
- Enable secure boot and updates for a variety of platforms
- Build telemetry and monitoring solutions for platform health and performance
- Drive technical requirements for next-generation autonomous system hardware and firmware
- Collaborate with hardware teams on board bring-up, validation, and debug of new platforms
- Maintain high code quality through testing, documentation, and code reviews
